AUBURN HILLS, MI — BorgWarner will supply the all-wheel drive transfer case to the new Ssangyong Kyron sport-utility vehicle, which was developed to combine the power of an SUV with the comfort of a sedan and the sophisticated design of a sports coupe. The Kyron replaces the Ssangyong Musso and is scheduled to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

“We are pleased to bring the benefits of BorgWarner’s leadership in all-wheel drive to drivers of the Ssangyong Kyron,” said Cindy Niekamp, president and general manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. “The system is another example of BorgWarner’s staunch commitment to providing our customers with industry-leading advanced technology, quality, and customized solutions to all-wheel drive challenges.”

Benefits of the BorgWarner system include lightweight construction, which enhances fuel efficiency; helical gearing, which delivers quiet low-range operation; electromagnetic shift-on-the-fly, which provides engagement of all-wheel drive at highway speeds; and electric shift, which simplifies selection of transfer-case operating modes. A BorgWarner Morse TEC Hy-Vo chain provides quiet all-wheel drive operation.

BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems is a leading independent global designer and producer of transfer cases and torque management devices for all-wheel drive passenger car, crossover vehicle, sports-utility and light-truck markets. These systems enhance vehicle stability, security and drivability.
