CHANTILLY, Va. The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association’s (APRA) 2012 International BIG R Show will have a different face this year to bring attendees the tools they need to increase their sales, reduce their costs and drop more dollars to their bottom line. Whether you are a rebuilder/remanufacturer, a core supplier or a manufacturer supplier, this year’s program "Around the Profit World in 180 Minutes" has been designed for you, APRA says.
Attendees will hear from Jeff Skiles, the co-pilot of the U.S. Airways plane that landed in the Hudson River when a flock of geese flew into the engines, causing the crew to make some fast choices that turned out to be all the right ones. His presentation is called "The Miracle on The Hudson."
Also speaking will be Derek Kaufman, who will address "Powertrain Trends and the Reman Opportunities They Represent." Derek last spoke to the APRA group in 2000, and he returns to talk about the changes and opportunities that exist for those in the remanufacturing marketplace. Derek is chief operating officer with Mission Motors.
Sandra Seifert, an engineer at Bayreuth University, will add to the message with her talk "Black Magic or Rocket Science? Reman Research Results Brought Down to Earth." Seifert will highlight many of the major issues affecting the remanufacturing industry as a result of the World Remanufacturing Summit that took place in Germany in early September 2012.
APRA has also invited Paul Turner, co-president of BizUnite, APRA’s service provider of the Reman Toolbox, to share information on the latest services and benefits offered through the Reman Toolbox. Turner will address how to drop more dollars to the bottom line simply by utilizing the 40-plus services in the Reman Toolbox, APRA says.
Finally, Omar Cueto, president of L & J Diesel Service will give an update on the "Right To Repair" legislation and how important this is to the survival of our remanufacturing industry and the aftermarket in general. His presentation will highlight why this legislation is so important as well as what everyone can do to make sure the legislation passes, APRA says.
