Automotive Communications Council Elects Officers and Board

The Automotive Communications Council (ACC) elected new officers and members to its board of governors at its recent conference in Hollywood, Fla. Nearly 40 members attended the conference held at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa near Miami Beach. Attendees heard presentations on a range of topics including ad effectiveness and strategic aftermarket branding.

BETHESDA, MD — The Automotive Communications Council (ACC) elected new officers and members to its board of governors at its recent conference in Hollywood, Fla. Nearly 40 members attended the conference held at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa near Miami Beach. Attendees heard presentations on a range of topics including ad effectiveness and strategic aftermarket branding.

ACC is a national non-profit organization comprised of professional marketing, public relations, advertising and communications practitioners involved in the automotive aftermarket. Founded in 1941, ACC is the oldest continuously operating council in the aftermarket industry.

Jon Owens, publisher of Counterman magazine and aftermarketNews.com, and outgoing president of the ACC, announced the ACC’s new officers.

• President: Doug Ferguson, group publisher, Advanstar Automotive Group

• First Vice President: David Wheeler, ad/merchandising manager, Gates Rubber Co.

• Second Vice President: Jennifer Tio, senior vice president, Maximum Marketing Services

• Treasurer: J. Barry Harris, national marketing manager, The Timken Corp.

• Secretary: Tom Marx, president, The Marx Group

The ACC new Board of Governors is:

2005 Term:

• Katie Noga, manager, marketing communications and motorsports, Chicago Rawhide

• Brian Tarnacki, director of brand marketing, Federal Mogul

• Jim McLean, advertising manager, Gates Rubber Co.

2006 Term:

• Pamela Krebs, director, advertising and sales promotion, Robert Bosch Corp. Sales Group

• David Kobuszewski, brand manager, automotive aftermarket, NASCAR

• Neal Zipser, vice president of communications, MEMA

ACC also set the date for its next conference, which will take place September 12-13 in Chicago at the Renaissance Hotel. Exact times and program information will be announced soon.
