Autolite Expands Reach Into Accessories Category

Honeywell's Autolite brand, known for spark plugs and ignition wires, has set its sights on a new market -- automotive accessories. The brand is launching two new consumer-oriented lighting products. Autolite SpotGlo, a new seatbelt light designed for reading, working or playing a game while traveling, and Autolite TriGlo, a dual-purpose light source for both home and car usage. Both products will be available for order by mass merchant and automotive specialty retailers, as well as convenience stores and various other retail outlets.

DANBURY, CT — Honeywell’s Autolite brand, known for spark plugs and ignition wires, has set its sights on a new market — automotive accessories.

Autolite decided to enter the $27 billion automotive accessories market after conducting extensive research, said the company. The Autolite SpotGlo and Autolite TriGlo lights will be branded as products that help consumers drive smarter, with an emphasis on solving problems encountered on the road or around the house.

“The Autolite brand represents both youth and vibrancy and connects beyond the pure automotive space to opportunities in lighting, electronics and technology,” said Eric Rozier, vice president of Autolite. “We knew after only a few days of intense research that the automotive lighting accessories area was lacking a brand leader, as well as the marketing support that the Autolite brand is able to provide. We worked diligently to develop product concepts that fulfilled a consumer need, and the result is these two innovative automotive safety lighting products.”

Rozier added that the brand will continue to focus on its core competencies – spark plugs and ignition wires. “But you’ll also see more accessory products from Autolite in the future,” he said.

The new product launch will be supported with advertising, publicity and other marketing campaigns.
