New AAIA Report Provides Insight Into Auto Repair Professional’s Tool Buying Habits

A new market research report published by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) reveals that technicians, shop owners and service managers prefer to purchase their tools from mobile tool distributors. The report — “Tool Purchasing Trends” — offers insight into current and future purchasing decisions of professional users of tools and equipment for automotive repair based on surveys of more than 1,340 respondents.

ASC Promotes Blackerby to COO

Associated Equipment Announces Passing of Jim Fournier

James Fournier, retired executive vice president of Associated Equipment Corp., died on March 18 in St. Louis, Mo. He was 69-years-old. Fournier retired as executive vice president of Associated Equipment Corp. in St. Louis in 1993. Prior to his tenure with Associated, he was vice president of marketing of Maremont Corp. in Chicago.

ASE Launches myASE for Technicians

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has launched a new Web page where certified service professionals can view their certification status and test history online. Called myASE and housed on the ASE Web site, service professionals can also update personal information online such as mailing address, phone number, e-mail address and more.

Federal-Mogul and Champion Brands Strike Multi-Year Licensing Deal

Federal-Mogul Corp. and Champion Brands, LLC have announced a long-term licensing agreement adding the Champion “Bow Tie” logo to a line of performance additives for automotive, heavy truck, marine and specialty industries. The new products are in addition to the full line of performance additives and lubricants Champion Brands currently manufactures. The new line will be targeted to national accounts and mass merchants channels.

SMMC to Discuss Tips for Increasing Brand Recognition

Bob Schaffer of Integrated Marketing Solutions will lead a discussion on increasing brand recognition at the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Small & Medium Manufacturers Council (SMMC). The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 28, at American Axle in Detroit, Mich., and also on Thursday, April 29, at the Doubletree Hotel O’Hare Rosemont, Chicago.
