Software Industry Veteran to Lead CarParts Technologies

Data Network Inc., a provider of software and real-time data services to the automotive industry, has appointed Paul Van Den Berg as president of its subsidiary, CarParts Technologies. CarParts Technologies provides open, eCommerce and business automation software solutions for the North American automotive aftermarket. Van Den Berg will replace Dave McCann, who served as CarParts’ president and CEO since 2002. McCann is leaving the company to pursue his career in a field outside the aftermarket.

AOCA Second Edition Technician Academy Training Materials Now Available

The Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA), a non-profit trade organization representing the convenient automotive maintenance industry, has released the second edition of its Technician Academy training materials. AOCA members who previously purchased Technician Academy, will be provided the updated version of the Technician Guide, Trainer Guide and Technician Workbook without charge.

S.A. Day Mfg. Co. President Steps Down After Nearly Five Decades

After a career that has spanned nearly five decades, Paul Conn, president of the S.A. Day Manufacturing Co., has announced his retirement. Conn stepped down from his post on Oct. 1. Jackson (Jay) Bowling will be taking over as president at S.A. Day. The S.A. Day Mfg. Co., Inc. is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified manufacturer of flux for the soldering of copper/brass and flux for the soldering and brazing of aluminum heat exchangers.

One-Stop Shopping for Scholarships

Currently, no easy way exists for students looking for automotive scholarships to find a complete listing of what is available. In an effort to centralize a listing of all automotive scholarships available to interested students, AAIA is looking gathering information concerning any automotive scholarship programs currently available. The information will be listed on AAIA’s web site www.aftermarket.org under the “Education” heading.

American Axle & Manufacturing Names New Vice Chairman, New Board Member

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM), today announced the appointment of Joel Robinson to the non-board position of vice chairman. Robinson joined AAM in 1994 and since then has held a series of positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to his current appointment, Robinson was president and COO of AAM, a position he held since 2001.

Visteon Appoints New Associate Director, Supplier Diversity Development

Visteon Corp. has appointed Henry Martin, Jr. to associate director, supplier diversity development. In this new position, Martin will be responsible for managing the growth and development of Visteon’s diverse supply base, including minority business enterprises (MBEs) and women-owned enterprises, to meet the company’s goal to increase diversity spending significantly within the next five years. Martin also will oversee the annual alignment of supplier goals with Visteon’s customer business goals and diversity council initiatives.
