CANTON, OH — ASC Industries, a Canton, Ohio-based manufacturer of automotive water pumps, has reports significant business growth due to its high-tech manufacturing environment.
“Job growth is strong at ASC’s North Canton manufacturing facility, all due to execution of our business model,” said Ted Swaldo, president of ASC Industries.
A number of years ago, ASC created a high-tech manufacturing environment, which Swaldo said has proven that efficiency pays dividends. The company recently added another fully-automated robotic water pump assembly line, yet has not had to eliminate a single job, a claim that Swaldo is proud of.
According to Dave Tate, vice president of industrial and special projects, ASC’s newest robotic assembly line utilizes enhanced technology to further increase the quality control of ASC’s product as well as increase plant productivity. The company said it can now produce a new water pump in less than 15 seconds.
“The assembly line was jointly developed by ASC Industries and an automated machine builder experienced in developing automated assembly systems for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM),” said Tate. “The technology of this system and its quality control mechanisms were designed and built to meet the demanding OEM standards. ASC utilizes this system to assemble both aftermarket replacement and OEM water pumps. The number of OEM-type inspections we perform on our robotic lines will assure us quality products as well as maximize productivity.”
The increased efficiency of the company’s U.S. assembly operations combined with global component sourcing has led to increased sales for ASC, which in turn has led to the creation of new jobs. The company recently added a third shift to its operations and 45 new jobs.
