TROY, MI — Bill Taylor, director of research and development for ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Emissions (CVE), has been named a recipient of the 2004 Top 100 Young Innovators award given by Technology Review, MIT’s Magazine of Innovation.
The annual award recognizes 100 individuals under age 35 whose innovative work in technology has a profound impact on today’s world.
Taylor directs the company’s Emissions Technology Development team, which plays a pivotal role in revolutionizing the way diesel engine manufacturers meet the upcoming 2010 diesel emissions standards. The team has already been credited with numerous achievements in emission control. They were the first to demonstrate on-board viability of the Plasma Fuel Reformer, a breakthrough exhaust technology that uses hydrogen to control tailpipe emissions. Taylor’s group also developed the Thermal Regenerator, which enables diesel soot filters to operate in difficult real-world environments.
Taylor is a 10-year veteran of the emissions industry and has been with ArvinMeritor for 8 years. He has earned engineering degrees from Clemson University, North Carolina State University and MIT.
