TROY, MI — ArvinMeritor has received a leadership award for its work in virtual product development from MSC.Software Corp. MSC.Software is a global provider of simulation software and services that help companies make money, save time and reduce costs associated with designing and testing manufactured products.
The award was presented at MSC’s 2004 Virtual Product Development Conference held in Huntington Beach, Calif. The two-day conference was attended by more than 650 engineers, managers, directors and company executives from more than 70 U.S. and foreign companies. Awards were given to 18 companies in three categories.
ArvinMeritor was recognized for its outstanding leadership in advancing the implementation of Virtual Product Development (VPD) tools and processes to improve product performance in the automotive industry.

Shih said the scope of tasks for ArvinMeritor involving VPD include simulation, modeling, test correlation, development of integrated engineering tools and product knowledge databases. VPD also fosters up-to-beat process management and cross-functional teamwork, he added.
