Calling all classic car fans! Dave Kindig, television star of MotorTrend Network’s Bitchin’ Rides show and creator of his custom car company, Kindig-it Design, will team up once again with AkzoNobel – a leading automotive paints and coatings manufacturer – for the 2019 Woodward Dream Cruise. On Aug. 17, the company and Kindig will showcase several classic cars along South Old Woodward Avenue, just outside Detroit. Kindig also will sign autographs.
“The Dream Cruise is where the rubber really meets the road. If you want to see awesome classic cars, you need to be here,” says Kindig. “I’m honored to partner with AkzoNobel for this event that began from supporting a good cause and has now grown to be a renowned and simply impressive automotive entertainment event.”
Now in its 25th year, the Dream Cruise started as a grass roots movement in 1995 to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale, Michigan. Today, the Dream Cruise is one of the world’s largest automotive events. It draws in more than 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars from around the globe, and it inspires automotive professionals and car enthusiasts of all ages.
An Impressive Display
The AkzoNobel Dream Cruise lot will have quite a display of cars. Alongside employees’ and customers’ vintage cars, Kindig’s collection will include a 1967 Dodge Coronet, painted in Modern Classikk Deep Viridian, and a 1963 Chevy Corvette, painted in Modern Classikk Veruca Violet. Kindig will be on-hand to sign autographs, take photos with fans and “talk shop” about how he restored the vehicles.
“We’ve had the great privilege of working with Dave since 2017,” said John Eubanks, AkzoNobel regional marketing manager for Automotive and Specialty Coatings. “From developing the Modern Classikk color line to drawing inspiration from him as a true automotive artist whose work results in exceptional quality, workmanship and style — we are truly excited about showing off the results from our partnership at the Dream Cruise.”
The AkzoNobel lot at the Woodward Dream Cruise will be located 30 minutes north of Detroit at 588 South Old Woodward Avenue (near Bowers Street) in Birmingham, Michigan. The event begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, and runs all day until 9 p.m. Kindig will sign autographs and be available for photo opportunities during the event, at the Kindig-It Design Rig in the lot.
