Akebono Announces Passing of Regional Sales Manager Carl Schaefer

Akebono announced yesterday that Eastern Regional Sales Manager Carl Schaefer unexpectedly passed away in January. Schaefer was a 25-year veteran of the automotive aftermarket business, with a focus on brake systems. He joined Akebono in 2002 and managed the company’s aftermarket sales in the eastern U.S. and Canada.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — Akebono announced yesterday that Eastern Regional Sales Manager Carl Schaefer unexpectedly passed away in January. Schaefer was a 25-year veteran of the automotive aftermarket business, with a focus on brake systems. He joined Akebono in 2002 and managed the company’s aftermarket sales in the eastern U.S. and Canada.

“We are all very saddened by Carl’s sudden passing and our hearts go out to his wife and family,” said Randy Mordue, director of aftermarket operations, Akebono Corp., North America. “Carl was well known and respected throughout the aftermarket brake business. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him. Carl’s knowledge and sales ability made him a valuable part of the Akebono team. Thanks in large part to his leadership and dedication, our business in his region grew each month.”

Prior to joining Akebono, Schaefer spent most of his career with Wagner/Federal-Mogul in a number of sales management positions. A resident of Mount Laurel, N.J., he is survived by his wife Daryl and two sons.
