NORTHVILLE TWP., Mich. – Aisin cut the ceremonial red ribbon yesterday, signifying the grand opening of the new North American Headquarters of Aisin World Corp. of America (AWA) and Aisin Technical Center of America (ATC-A). The renovated 200,000-square-foot building is located in Northville Township, part of the Advanced Technical Corridor area near Five Mile and Beck roads in Western Wayne County.
Festivities at the grand opening ceremony included speeches from Aisin executives, the MEDC’s Nigel Francis, and the presentation of a $50,000 gift to Northville Township Parks & Recreation by AWA CEO Mike Saito.
“Today’s activities are symbolic of Aisin’s continuous investment in its customers, and in the state of Michigan,” said John Koenig, president, sales & marketing, AWA. “The new North American headquarters for AWA and ATC-A will enable our team to provide increased levels of efficiency, engineering services, and product development for the benefit of our customers.”
Koenig, who said the two companies expect to add 51 jobs in the coming months, said the move to Northville Township was necessitated by company growth.
“Business has been very good over the past few years, and we expect continued growth,” said Koenig. “We not only outgrew our facilities, but it became logistically challenging to have our team located in two separate buildings. Now we’re all under one roof, which will improve team communication and ensure that our company vision: ‘to be an irreplaceable global partner to our customers,’ is maintained.”
Aisin has invested nearly $250 million in Michigan since it first located here in 1984. More than 700 people are employed at five Aisin Group company locations in Ann Arbor, Plymouth, Fowlerville, and Northville Township, Mich.
