Advance Community Health is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding, and in honor of this momentous milestone, Advance Auto Parts Foundation has awarded Advance Community Health with a $50,000 grant to support the launch of the “ACH Cares” pharmacy prescription assistance program to promote heart health.
The ACH Cares prescription assistance program was established by Advance Community Health Pharmacy Director, Dr. Portia Johnson, to help patients reduce out-of-pocket prescription expenses. Through the program, staff will be able to identify copay assistance, grants from charitable organizations, and in some cases, payment plans for patients struggling to meet out-of-pocket prescription costs.
“It’s our job to ensure that our patients have access to the services and medications needed to live healthy lives,” said Johnson. “This is just one of many ways that we’re putting our patients first and being proactive in our approach. We are thankful for our community partners, such as Advance Auto Parts, who enable us to push this work forward.”
The program is scheduled to launch Monday, February 14, 2022, and will be open to Advance Community Health patients who meet the income qualifications. “Advance Auto Parts Foundation has identified individual health and well-being as one of its primary focus areas,” said Elisabeth Eisleben, foundation president and senior vice president, communications and investor relations of Advance Auto Parts. “This gift underscores both the foundation’s commitment to the Raleigh community and the pervasiveness of cardiovascular illness in the region and the nation.”
50 Years of Strategic Disruption
Since its founding in 1972, Advance Community Health—originally known as Wake Health Services—has served as a critical healthcare resource for communities of all backgrounds, providing care to privately insured, uninsured, underinsured, and underserved patients.
“If I could pick one phrase to describe the last 50 years, it would be strategic disruption,” said Scot McCray, Advance Community Health CEO. “Our keen ability to grow and adapt is what has allowed us to be here today. As we look toward the future, we are committed to continuing our legacy of disrupting the norm and breaking down barriers to care for our community.”
