AAIA’s 2011 Aftermarket Legislative Summit Rescheduled for June 20-21

Now scheduled for June 20-21, 2011, the registration deadline is May 22, 2011.

BETHESDA, Md. – The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) 2011 Aftermarket Legislative Summit has been rescheduled for June 20-21, 2011, and online registration is now available at www.aftermarket.org. The registration deadline is May 22, 2011.

The Aftermarket Legislative Summit was rescheduled as a result of the recent announcement that members of Congress would be away from Washington, D.C., on the summit’s original scheduled dates in March. The newly scheduled recess was part of a new decision by Congress to work in their districts one week of every month.

“While we would have preferred to not change the dates of the summit, the new date will provide time for the new Congress to get organized and likely make our congressional visits more effective. The new dates also will permit our attendees and their families to enjoy our nation’s capital in the spring, when it is at its best,” said Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO, AAIA. “The bottom line is that no matter when we hold this event, it is an important opportunity for aftermarket professionals to come to Capitol Hill to discuss issues that impact their businesses with key congressional leaders.”

Participants will be thoroughly coached and prepared for their congressional visits during an issue briefing session that will be held on the afternoon of Monday, June 20. A reception will be held on Capitol Hill the evening of June 20 to provide an informal setting for members to meet legislators and their staff. Attendees will spend Tuesday, June 21 walking the halls of Congress meeting their elected officials and staffs. AAIA staff will set up appointments for participants with their district representative and two U.S. senators.

There is no cost to attend the summit; attendees need only to pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.

For more information on the summit, including how to register and make hotel reservations, visit www.aftermarket.org or contact Ryan Carroll at 301-654-6664 or e-mail [email protected].
