DALLAS – SH Racing Rallycross has announced the addition of WIX Filters to its 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross program with driver Nelson Piquet Jr. WIX Filters will serve as a primary sponsor with a special livery debuting on June 21-22 in Washington, D.C., and running again in Seattle Sept. 26-27. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of WIX Filters in 2014, the SH Rallycross Ford Fiesta will switch to No. 75. Additionally, WIX Filters will have a full-time presence on the SH Rallycross entry for the balance of the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross season.

Since 1939, WIX has been an innovator in filtration products. The company designs, manufactures and distributes products for automotive, diesel, agricultural, industrial and specialty filter markets. Its product line includes oil, air, cabin interior, fuel, coolant, transmission and hydraulic filters for automobiles, trucks and off-road equipment. WIX uses motorsports as a testing ground for scenarios involving high temperatures, fluctuations in pressure and rapid breakdown of engine oil.

Two races into their debut season, SH Rallycross is already an X Games medalist after capturing the bronze at X Games Austin two weeks ago. Piquet Jr. sits second in the driver championship following his fourth place finish at the season-opening round of Top Gear Festival Barbados and his third place at the X Games.
Red Bull Global Rallycross events are designed to produce the fastest and most exciting racing in all of motorsports. Tracks are between a half-mile and a mile in length, featuring a mixture of dirt, tarmac and other obstacles. GRC vehicles are able to produce 600 horsepower, accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 1.9 seconds, withstand 70-foot jumps and do not include traction control. Events include qualifying; heat races; a last-chance qualifier; and the final, where the winner is determined. Volkswagen Rallycross DC, the third round of the season, will be broadcast live Sunday, June 22 on NBC at 2 p.m. ET.
