Ninety-four percent of shops surveyed by Counterman magazine replace batteries at their location with an average of five battery replacements taking place each month. Seventy-seven percent of shops surveyed for the most recent Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (P.A.R.T.S.) say they keep batteries in stock. As the chart here shows, when its time to restock, shops primarily rely on Jobbers and WD’s as their source for batteries.
Brand recognition is very strong in the battery category with 83 percent of shops reporting that they only use a brand they trust. Only two other parts categories rank brand higher: spark plugs (86 percent) and shocks & struts (86 percent).
