WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Automotive Specialty Products Alliance’s (ASPA) Winter Meeting, Dec. 6-7, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL, will feature a unique set of topics concerning the automotive chemical and appearance industry.
ASPA is an alliance between three national trade associations — the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), and the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA).
The themes and speakers for the ASPA Winter Meeting will include:
- Defending the Industry: Kevin Mayer and Mark Fitzsimmons, from the law firm Steptoe and Johnson, will discuss strategic industry responses to growing toxic tort litigation facing some members. Joe Yost, from CSPA, will be discussing CARB regulations that will impact product formulations that will also be essential to defending the industry against overly restrictive regulations
- Growing the Industry: David Portalatin, from The NPD Group, will discuss ways grow your sales by marketing to a new generation of automotive consumers. Jeff Stauffer of Old World industries, will also discuss innovative new ideas on marketing, with a focus on Old World’s recent partnership with Proctor & Gamble.
- Anticipating the Future of the Industry: Steve Risotto, of HSIA, will tackle the issue of supply and the forces driving the solvent market. Michele Sullivan, PhD of MRS Associates, will address the potential for Global Harmonization of Standards and Regulations, which will be crucial as companies in this industry become more global in their sales.
