Spectra Premium has announced its support for AIA Canada’s new project to promote the advancement of women in the automotive aftermarket industry. The three-year AWAKE initiative (Advancing Women in Automotive Exchange Knowledge) driven by AIA Canada and St. Clair College, and funded by Status of Women Canada, aims to promote the recruitment, retention and advancement of women in the automotive aftermarket industry.
A press conference announcing the details of this project was held Oct. 29 at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, where Nicole Best represented Spectra Premium. “The automotive industry has been my whole career and I am very happy to assist in any way that I can to bring exposure for women in this industry via the support of AIA Canada and St. Clair College,” said Best.
“We are pleased to support this initiative as this will increase awareness to our industry, help develop strategic employment practices, enhance professional development activities, as well as enable us to showcase the multiple opportunities within our company,” said Jason Best, senior vice president of aftermarket sales and business development at Spectra Premium, and a board member of AIA Canada.
