Obituary: Hercules Chairman and Bell Tire Owner Passes Away

CLEVELAND, OH — Joseph Russo, former president and chairman of the board of Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. and owner of Bell Tire in Cleveland, OH, passed away on Dec. 30 after a short illness. Russo served as president of Hercules from 1971 to 1987 and as chairman of the board from 1987 to 1989.

Hercules Buying Florida’s Tire Distributor Inc.

Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. has acquired Tire Distributor Inc. USA, an independent tire wholesaler based in Miami. Specific terms of the deal were not announced. TDI has two distribution centers in Florida, and Hercules said it would open three more in the Southeast over the next 18 to 24 months. Hercules said the new operations would change their name to Tire Dealer’s Warehouse, part of Hercules’ U.S. operations.
