Rolls-Royce Welcomes Minister Of State During National Apprenticeship Week

Gibb’s visit follows the manufacturer’s recent announcement that it is recruiting a record number of places for its 2018 apprenticeship program.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars welcomed the Rt. Hon. Nick Gibb, minister for School Standards and member of parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, to the company’s headquarters and manufacturing plant during National Apprenticeship Week.

National Apprenticeship Week (#NAW2018) is an annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships and this year was themed “Apprenticeships Work.” Fittingly, Gibb met with current Rolls-Royce apprentices from leather, wood, paint, engineering and assembly roles to hear firsthand about the knowledge and skills they have gained since they began in their positions. The apprentices were joined by colleagues who have successfully completed the apprenticeship program and are now progressing toward management roles in the company.

Gibb learned how Rolls-Royce apprentices combine nationally recognized college courses with on-the-job training, working alongside leading craftspeople and professionals who design and build some of the world’s best-selling super-luxury cars.

“It was a pleasure to meet the Rolls-Royce apprentices. Their commitment and developing expertise was very clear from the way they each described their particular contribution to the creative and manufacturing process,” said Gibb. “I’m delighted that Rolls-Royce is so committed to the apprenticeship program, helping to ensure our country has the skills it needs to compete in a competitive global market.”

Gibb’s visit follows the manufacturer’s recent announcement that it is recruiting a record number of places for its 2018 apprenticeship program. This year, 24 candidates will have the opportunity to join the team at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
