The Camaro was built at the Real Deal Steel facilities in Sanford, Florida, and includes a host of must-have components for any Camaro build, according to the company, including a 480HP LS3 Chevy crate motor and a Super Magnum T56 6-speed manual transmission.

All 2016 Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series class racers who finish the season in the top 10 in their respective classes will be eligible to win. With five classes, each eligible racer has a one in 50 chance to take home the ’69 Camaro RS/SS.

The Camaro is powered by a Connect and Cruise Engine Package from Chevrolet Performance and Scoggin Dickey Parts Center. This includes the 480HP LS3, the Super Magnum T56 6-speed manual transmission, matching bell housing and clutch kit, engine wiring harness, throttle pedal assembly, O2 sensors, mass-airflow meter and ECM for a complete drop in system.

The Chevrolet Performance LS3 engine is backed with a 24-month, 50,000-mile warranty parts and labor limited warranty. A host of aftermarket suppliers contributed to the Real Deal Steel NMCA project Camaro:

  • RT-S Series wheels from Weld Racing, 18×7 front and 20×11.5 rear
  • Tires from Mickey Thompson Street Comp 225/45R18 front and 305/35R20 rear
  • A 53-inch-wide rear axle from Moser
  • Front suspension clip from CA Chassisworks
  • Wilwood’s four-wheel disc brakes
  • Exterior sheet metal from Auto Metal Direct
  • Transportation by RPM Transmissions
  • Media blasting and epoxy prime by All Bare
  • Concept drawing and body graphics by Motorhead Apparel & Design
  • Steering wheel and adapter by Auto Pro/Volante
  • Steering column by ididit

The Camaro includes Real Deal Steel’s mini-tub option that allows up to a 335-mm wide tire without additional body modifications. Also included is an Auto Metal Direct front end sheet metal package (less inner fenders) and a two-inch cowl hood.

“Building the Real Deal Steel NMCA ’69 Camaro RS/SS has been an excellent supplier-relationship building exercise for us as well as a good team-building project for us in-house,” said Real Deal Steel Co-Owner Joe Whitaker. “Since we normally only manufacture the bare body and deliver it to the customer, being able to start with nothing and build a nearly finished car has been very rewarding.

“We have not done all of the work though; we give a big thank you to Chevrolet Performance, NMCA and our other sponsors for making this awesome car come together in just a few short months!”

“The Real Deal Steel NMCA Camaro RS/SS give-away vehicle is really going to turn heads next year as RPM Transmissions transports it to all Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series events,” said Steve Wolcott, president and CEO of NMCA.

The National Muscle Car Association is part of the ProMedia Events company, which produces national motorsports shows, including the Chevy High Performance Nationals.
