James Burdiss Named Chief Information Officer for Affinia
Affinia Group has named James Burdiss vice president and chief information officer. A 30-year information systems and management executive, Burdiss will report to Terry McCormack, president and chief executive officer of Affinia Group. Burdiss comes to Affinia from Smurfit Stone Container Corp. of Chicago (SSCC), a Fortune 250 company that is North America’s largest producer of corrugated packing. The chief executive of a leading French auto parts supplier stepped down Wednesday amid charges by prosecutors that he was aware of bribes allegedly paid to Germany’s top automakers to win their business. Directors at Faurecia, one of the biggest European makers of automotive interiors, met late Wednesday and announced the resignation of Pierre Levi, saying that his departure was “in the best interests of the group.”

More than 400 aftermarket professionals gathered in Detroit last week for the 2006 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium. The event, held May 17 & 18 at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn featured more than 31 speakers, moderators and panelists, who spoke on topics ranging from globalization and outsourcing to marketing and the view from Wall Street. Attendees also enjoyed networking events, including cocktail receptions at the Henry Ford Museum and the Automotive Hall of Fame.
