Organizations can now register their 2006 National Car Care Month vehicle check events on the Car Care Council’s website at www.carcare.org. To help organizations conduct vehicle check events, visitors to the “industry” section of the Council’s site will find National Car Care Month materials to enhance their events, including a free vehicle check event planning guide. In addition, “Be Car Care Aware” point-of-sale kits and a virtual store of apparel and premium items are available for purchase.

Get a Jump on National Car Care Month at Free AAPEX Seminar

Get a jump on planning for April’s National Car Care Month by learning how to plan and execute consumer vehicle check-up events at a free seminar presented by the Car Care Council during AAPEX. The seminar will be held from 8 to 9 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3 in room 302 of the Sands Expo Center. All attendees will receive a complimentary DVD with step-by-step instructions on how to host both small and large vehicle check-up events. Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council, which directs the “Be Car Care Aware” consumer education campaign, will lead the seminar.

The Car Care Council has released the results of its annual National Car Care Month inspection campaign, which took place in April. This year’s results showed that 87 percent of the vehicles taking part in the program had at least one component that failed the inspection process. While the numbers dropped from 90 percent to 87 percent this year, these results continue to underscore the need for consumer education, said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council.
