CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio Technical College (OTC) has partnered with Edelbrock to host a Carburetor Challenge during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Aug. 14.

During the challenge, 19 high school teams from San Andreas, Hollister, San Diego, Lodi, Visalia, Monterey, Seaside and Castroville, Calif., will tear down, inspect and re-assemble an Edelbrock carburetor. OTC will award $1,500 to each participant, while the four fastest teams will compete in a final challenge to earn prizes including Edelbrock gear, Matco tools and tuition scholarships. The first place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship; second place $4,000; third place $3,000; and fourth place $2,000.

The Carburetor Challenge starts at 8 a.m. with the awards ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.

"We are excited to encourage these high school students as they demonstrate their automotive expertise and passion for our industry," said Tom King, director of enrollment management at OTC.

In addition to the challenge, Ohio Technical College instructor Tom Banks will be on site to conduct live airbrush demonstrations, which showcase the school’s popular Custom Paint and Graphics program. OTC will also display its 25-foot custom-wrapped hauler and a drag Corvette that will be custom painted live throughout the event.
