RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) has produced a new video that demonstrates the importance of the motor vehicle product manufacturing industry to the overall automotive industry and to the American economy. The 11-minute video, titled “The Importance of The Automotive Supplier: The Engine Behind the Largest U.S. Manufacturing Industry” was produced as a service to the industry by MEMA in conjunction with its 100-year anniversary celebration.
According to Neal Zipser, MEMA’s vice president of marketing and communications, the purpose of the video is to help demonstrate the significant importance the suppliers contribute to the overall driving experience and to America’s largest manufacturing industry.
“This video demonstrates just how important the supplier industry is to the overall American economy and how it contributes to the overall original equipment, aftermarket and heavy duty industries,” Zipser said. “This important message often gets lost on Capitol Hill, on Wall Street and even in our members’ own facilities. This is a high-tech industry that has greatly contributed toward safer and cleaner-running vehicles and we have to take more credit for that.”
Noted automotive industry analyst John McElroy, host of “Autoline Detroit,” narrates the video. Several other noted industry experts are featured in the video including Dr. David Cole, director of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR ); Richard Dauch, co-founder, chairman and CEO of American Axle & Manufacturing; and Frank Ordonez, president of Delphi Product and Services Solutions.
The video is now available to MEMA members, media and industry analysts, and is available on the MEMA Web site at www.mema.org. The video will be mailed to members of MEMA’s three market segment associations (AASA, HDMA and OESA) in late July and is available in VHS, DVD and CD-Rom formats. Additional copies of the video will be available for purchase by contacting [email protected].
