1) Last week, we reported that Johnson Controls had officially spun off its automotive business, renaming the business “Adient.” Today, JCI announced it will merge with Tyco, a global fire and security provider, to create a leader in building products and technology, integrated solutions and energy storage.

 2) The Chevy Volt has been named the 2016 Green Car Journal Green Car of the Year. The Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid tops the field as 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year and Honda’s HR-V earns Green Car Journal’s 2016 Green SUV of the Year.

 3) The Washington Auto Show has been closed until tomorrow due to the winter storm Jonas that walloped D.C. with approximately 25 inches of snow

4) President Barak Obama visited the North American International Auto Show last week in Detroit. He is only the third president to ever do so, besides Bill Clinton and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Speedville.com’s Brendan Baker brings us a roundup of what we missed at this year’s show.
