National Auto Parts Warehouse Companies (NPW) has agreed to acquire Star Distributing in Phoenix, expanding its presence on the West Coast. The transaction is expected to close before the end of July.
The Phoenix location is the first NPW acquisition in Arizona and joins five other NPW locations on the West Coast. Founded in 1975 to secure better pricing to service his auto parts store, Charles King began Star Distributing. In 1990, Star Distributing merged with Republic Automotive, which doubled their sales. Today, Star Distributing is run by the late Charles’ two sons, Charles and Jeff King, and has been selling automotive products in the state of Arizona for more than 40 years.
“NPW’s acquisition of Star Distributing Co. and its affiliate company, Bullhead Auto Supply, will be a great stride forward for all of our customers and employees. The proven track record of NPW speaks for itself, and I know my father, Charles J. King, would be pleased to see it merged with a strong-growing, family-owned company like NPW. NPW’s presence will give our customers the opportunity to provide several new categories and product lines to their own customers. The change will be made as smooth as possible for our customers, especially with NPW being a member of our same buying group, The Aftermarket Alliance,” said Jeff King, president of Star Distributing.
“We are pleased to be able to grow our footprint in the Western United States with our first acquisition in Arizona. Of the four acquisitions we have completed this year, three are in the western part of the country, and we will continue our western expansion with several more in the coming months,” said Larry Pacey, president and CEO of NPW.
This acquisition brings NPW’s total warehouse facilities to 17 across the United States and Canada.
