Johnson Electric Launches Battery Cooling Fan Module for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

The cooling fan module (CFM EV) is designed to have extremely long life to continuously manage the battery temperature during the operating and recharge cycles of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, according to the company.

HONG KONG – Johnson Electric has introduced a new cooling fan product line for hybrid and electric vehicles. The cooling fan module (CFM EV) is designed to have extremely long life to continuously manage the battery temperature during the operating and recharge cycles of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, according to the company. The CFM EV is launched under the GATE brand and designed to maximize airflow with compact size, low weight and quiet operation.

The CFM EV product line provides airflow performance ranging from 30 to 70 liters per second with air pressure up to 600 Pa. This performance covers the requirements of light hybrid, full hybrid and electric vehicles, the company says. The airflow is variable to provide the necessary cooling for battery temperature management controlled by the vehicle ECU. The CFM EV interface and diagnostics can be customized for any vehicle platform, according to Johnson Electric.

“This cooling module product line sets a new performance standard for hybrid and electric vehicle thermal management,” said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric’s senior vice president of strategic marketing. “The CFM EV meets our customer’s demand for long life, high reliability and low noise.”
