Johnson Controls Honored By General Motors

Company wins the automaker's 2014 Supplier of the Year and Overdrive awards.

Johnson-Controls-logoPLYMOUTH, Mich. – Johnson Controls has been honored with two awards from General Motors (GM) – the 2014 General Motors Supplier of the Year Award and the Overdrive Award. This is the fifth time Johnson Controls has been recognized by General Motors for top performance. Suppliers were honored during the automaker’s 23rd annual event held March 5 in Detroit.

Supplier of the Year award winners are recognized for “going above and beyond,” and delivering innovative technology, superior quality, timely crisis management and competitive cost solutions.

The Overdrive Award recognizes suppliers with extraordinary leadership in cultural change and commitment initiatives that drove exceptional business results for GM. Johnson Controls received this award for its consistent collaboration with GM to execute continuous improvement and deliver sustainable value in General Motors’ seats.

“These awards are the result of hard work on the part of our employees, who are committed to a strong partnership with General Motors and one that benefits from the Johnson Controls operating system,” said Brian Grady, vice president and general manager, General Motors business unit for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating. “Johnson Controls’ operating system leverages our businesses’ best practices to improve quality, productivity and speed.”

“These companies are the best-of-the-best suppliers, and deserving of special recognition for their outstanding contributions,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, global purchasing and supply chain.

The Supplier of the Year and Overdrive award winners are chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives.
