TAIPEI, Taiwan — The four-in-one auto shows here saw a number of awards bestowed upon manufacturers for their innovative products. 
The simultaneous 30th Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show (AMPA), Fourth Annual International EV Taiwan (electric vehicle) Show, Ninth Annual Taipei International Automobile Electronics Show and Ninth Annual Taiwan International Motorcycle Show continue in Taipei through April 12.
The AMPA and AutoTronics shows announced the Innovation Awards for 20 products in four categories: auto parts, auto accessories, auto electronics and auto electronic end products. In all, 115 entries vied for a chance to capture an innovation award.

Visitors to EV Taiwan, focused solely on electric vehicles of all types and related products, witnessed a marketplace on the leading edge. Taiwanese manufacturers such as Pihsiang Electric Vehicle, Dijiya Energy Saving Tech, Go-Tech Energy Co., Tatung Co. and Bubu Tong Electric Vehicle showed members of the press their electric vehicles, batteries and motors that are all in on the ground level of this niche of the industry.
The electric vehicle market, while still nascent, has a sizable number of Taiwan-based manufacturers who are producing products for export to the U.S., Europe and other parts of Asia. The challenges manufacturers face include building batteries that are not only lightweight, but pack a punch energy-wise and the ability to stretch its energy to increase length of travel.
At the EV Taiwan show, suppliers to Tesla Motors, including electric motor maker Fukuta, electrical-mechanical control module maker Chrome ATE and auto fastener maker Sumeeko Industries are taking part in this year’s show, TAITRA said.
