STEZZANO, Italy Effective this month, Giorgio Ascanelli will be joining the Brembo Group as chief technical officer (CTO), heading up the company’s advanced research and technical development departments.
Ascanelli has extensive experience in the world of four-wheel motor racing, having begun his career in 1985 with the mechanical engineering staff of Scuderia Ferrari. He went on to work for Abarth, Benetton F1 and McLaren F1, before becoming technical director, first with Maserati Corse in 2002, and then with Scuderia Toro Rosso from 2007 to 2012.
With Ascanelli’s appointment, Brembo says it is looking to bring new skills to an area of activity that has always been the company’s main engine, while at the same time also sending out a strong signal of continuity to the market.
"In the coming years, Brembo will need to come up with radically innovative projects to ensure that the engineering side evolves in line with the company’s best traditions, while also responding to the new demands of the automotive industry," the Brembo Group stated in the announcement of Ascanelli’s appointment.
