ZEELAND, Mich. – Gentex Corp., the Zeeland, Mich.-based manufacturer of automotive automatic-dimming rearview mirrors, automotive electronics, dimmable aircraft windows, and fire protection products, announced that its recently acquired HomeLink product line will be available as a post-production accessory. The announcement was made during the company’s press conference last week at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
HomeLink is a vehicle-based control system that enables drivers to remotely activate garage door openers, entry door locks, home lighting, security systems, entry gates and other radio frequency convenience products.
HomeLink is currently offered in all automotive brands, is compatible with more than 99 percent of garage door opening systems, and is sold in North America, Europe, Africa, Asia/Pacific and the Middle East, according to Gentex.
“As the world’s most trusted and used in-vehicle wireless control system, we look forward to bringing the convenience and peace of mind of HomeLink to our accessory customers,” said Gentex General Manager of HomeLink Jim Trainor, “And, with the launch of HomeLink V offering easier installation, we are confident that consumers will view HomeLink as a ‘must have’ feature for total control over their home from their vehicle.”
Gentex has been integrating HomeLink into its automatic-dimming rearview mirrors for more than 10 years, and acquired HomeLink from Johnson Controls Inc., on Sept. 27, 2013, securing Gentex current customer and product offerings in HomeLink mirrors, and enabling new opportunities for Gentex to provide HomeLink for all automotive interior applications, now including accessory.
