On Oct. 28 at AWDA’s Annual Conference, Frank Frederick of Remy International was honored with AWDA’s 2012 Pursuit of Excellence Award. Established in 1983, this award is given annually by AWDA in recognition of excellence in business performance and support for AWDA and its ideals.
Dick Fairbanks, AWDA’s incoming vice chairman and president of Orleans Auto Parts, Hyannis, MA, presented the award on behalf of AWDA at the association’s 2012 Annual Conference. In his remarks, Fairbanks noted Frederick’s hard work and dedication to numerous AWDA and AAIA projects.
As chairman of AWDA’s Manufacturer’s Advisory Council (MAC), Frederick has championed a close working relationship between the MAC and the Car Care Professionals Network (CCPN). This cooperation, in conjunction with AWDA’s distributors, has resulted in several key projects, most recently the development of Best Practices for Processing Warranty Claims within the traditional aftermarket.
Frederick’s personal efforts and commitment were largely responsible for the on-time release and ongoing refinement of this project.
Frederick has also served on the AWDA Board of Governors and was chairman of the Leadership Development Network (LDN). During his tenure with LDN, he introduced the “Next Step” program to AWDA’s board. Frederick’s tireless promotion of this program has resulted in the presentation of $12,000 in travel grants to promising, young employees of aftermarket companies so they can experience AAIA’s Leadership Days, and through that exposure gain greater insight about their association and industry.
“Frank has always been willing to do his part, to work very hard for his industry and association,” said AWDA chairman Bill Maggs, National Pronto Association, “He is a consummate volunteer leader; he does what he says he will do and never fails to deliver on a promised action. Frank just plain ‘gets it.’”
Added Fairbanks, “When it comes to support for AWDA and its ideals a key component of this award no one does it better than Frank Frederick.”
