From AAIA Capital Report
Participants in the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) negotiations have announced that remaining issues from last month’s final round of negotiations held in Tokyo have been resolved and the final text of an agreement has been completed. The draft still must undergo legal verification and will then be submitted to proper authorities of the participating nations for domestic processes.
The goal of ACTA is to provide an international framework for combating intellectual property (IP) rights infringement, particularly with respect to the growing international problem of counterfeiting and piracy. Participants in the negotiations included Australia, Canada, the European Union and member states, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States.
The final draft of ACTA text is available here.
