Epicor Introduces U2 Database Transition Program For Users Of Epicor Ultimate Software

AUSTIN, Texas – Epicor Software Corp. has announced a comprehensive transition program that will enable users of Epicor Ultimate business management software to transition to a UniVerse or UniData (U2) database platform. According to Epicor, this process will enable Epicor Ultimate software users to upgrade their businesses to faster, more efficient hardware and access an array of additional system capabilities, while providing a longer-term migration path to a modern, feature-rich business solution.

“We have many longtime Epicor Ultimate users within the automotive aftermarket who have developed custom applications and other features that are currently dependent on the legacy Ult-Plus database,” said Scott Thompson, vice president, automotive, retail distribution solutions for Epicor. “We have put resources into place to help these users convert to a U2 database platform so they can move to an IBM and/or Intel-based technology pack without disrupting their business operations.”

The transition to a modern database platform will enable users to more easily integrate a variety of the latest Epicor applications, including the popular Epicor LaserCat 3 electronic catalog interface, Epicor PartExpert eCatalog suite and the Epicor Parts Network eCommerce solutions. The user’s technology investment can also be better protected through an open migration path to a next generation solution that utilizes a U2 database platform.

Epicor support professionals will work closely with Epicor Ultimate users to complete the database transition without interruption to business operations. “Our customers and their employees should enjoy a virtually seamless transition to the new database architecture, with no expected changes to their existing applications,” Thompson said.
