LANSDALE, PA — August F. Wiegand, retired president of CSF, Inc., passed away on August 2 in Kilmarnock, VA. In addition to CSF president, he was general manager of Dunham-Bush Inc., and president of Petroleum Associates. Wiegand served on various boards including the Easter Seal Society and Riverside National Bank of CA. Wiegand was a contributing editor for the Automotive Cooling Journal, chairman of AMLC committee of NARSA and was actively involved in many other NARSA and MACS programs. Wiegand was the recipient of numerous industry awards and was the founder and head of First Associated Radiator Technicians group.
Wiegand was born on December 18, 1925 in Fords, NJ. He graduated from Woodbridge High School, served in the Army Air Corp., and obtained a BSIE from Lehigh University. To his friends and colleagues, he was known as “a walking-talking encyclopedia.” Wiegand was also remembered as a voracious reader and an avid fisherman; he enjoyed life and enjoyed everything he did to the fullest
“To us, Gus was a mentor; he taught us most of what we know today. All of us at CSF are grateful to him and will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lois and the rest of his family,” said co-workers at CSF.
Wiegand is survived by his wife of 57 years Lois; children Fredrick Wiegand of Syracuse, NY; Kathy Taylor of Fayetteville, NY; Judith Buczkowski (Thomas) of Waitsfield, VT; Jeffrey Wiegand of Manlius, NY; Susan Carroll (Norman) of Manlius, NY; Grandchildren Thaddeus and Zachary Owen, and Caitlin and Shannon Carroll. A memorial service was held Saturday, August 5. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northumberland County (VA) Rescue Squad, or the Easter Seal Society.
