WAYNE, N.J. Fred Diehl, winner of the Castrol Triumph sweepstakes, will soon claim his 2012 Triumph Bonneville T100 motorcycle at a presentation ceremony June 23 at the Pep Boys store in Bensalem, Pa. Diehl won the motorcycle by entering a national Castrol sweepstakes held at Pep Boys stores from Feb. 26 to April 1. More than 14,000 motorcycle enthusiasts entered for the chance to win.
"I entered the contest at a Pep Boys store with a few guys from my job," said Diehl, a truck driver who delivers air, gas cylinders and oil and longtime customer of Castrol products. "I guess I owe the guys dinner now."
The Triumph Bonneville is one of Triumph’s most popular bikes. A retro meets modern motorcycle, the Bonneville got its name from Triumphs setting land speed records at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. It is hugely popular with the Hollywood set and, as GQ contributor Stan Parish says, "[this bike] will never go out of style."
The national promotion, conducted at all Pep Boys locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, featured Castrol’s Power RS motorcycle oil. Power RS is a premium, full synthetic motorcycle oil with race-derived technology that ensures maximum performance under the most demanding riding conditions.
"We are happy to see a Philadelphia native the city where Pep Boys is headquartered win the Triumph motorcycle," said Glen Mone, Pep Boys category manager. "Pep Boys is a leading service and retail chain in the automotive aftermarket, and we’re also a supplier of motorcycle products and products for performance vehicles."
Castrol and Triumph have a long-standing presence and partnership in the motorcycle arena. Triumph’s full range of high-performance motorcycles are factory filled with Castrol lubricants and, to ensure maximum performance for the life of the bike, Triumph recommends Castrol for all aftermarket service.
"The sweepstakes gave us the opportunity to add value for a key retail partner and to support our primary OEM customer (Triumph) at the same time," said Rob Corini, brand manager, motorcycle oil. "But, the most gratifying experience will be to see a Castrol consumer ride away on a really cool bike."
"I love to ride motorcycles [and] I look forward to taking the bike out on the long stretches of the Pennsylvania Turnpike," said Diehl.
