Bridgestone Closes Safety Recall

Upon investigation, Bridgestone discovered that only eight tires – Firestone Champion with Fuel Fighter Technology in size 205/70R15 – were affected by a production error. These tires never left the company’s possession, so there is no longer a public safety concern and the company decided to close the recall, Bridgestone said.

Bridgestone Americas - LogoBridgestone Americas has stopped its voluntarily recall of 2,900 Firestone FR710 and Champion with Fuel Fighter tires. Upon investigation, Bridgestone discovered that only eight tires – Firestone Champion with Fuel Fighter Technology in size 205/70R15—were affected by a production error. These tires never left the company’s possession, so there is no longer a public safety concern and the company decided to close the recall, Bridgestone said.

“We exercised an extraordinary amount of caution and filed a safety recall notice with NHTSA before a thorough investigation could be completed in order to comply with the five-day filing requirements stipulated by NHTSA,” Bridgestone said.

“The safety of the driving public and our customers is our top priority. The most recent safety recall filing is a testament to our company’s commitment to safety and to ensuring that the products we deliver are the very best quality and perform as expected,” the tiremaker continued.

Bridgestone is currently working with the NHTSA to have its original recall filing amended.
