Bendix Online Brake School Enrollment Tops 40,000

Bendix opened access to brake-school.com in March 2013. Since then, the company says users have accessed its knowledge database and technical resource more than 2 million times.

Brake-school.com, the online training portal from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, continues to grow as a training resource for professionals from all corners of the trucking industry. Drivers, technicians, distributors, fleet personnel and owner-operators turn to the site for current and in-depth technical training, according to the company. The Bendix On-Line Brake School, delivering access to topics in demand at all times, now serves more than 40,000 registered users from more than two dozen countries.

Bendix-Commercial-Logo“People throughout the industry, across roles and job titles, continue to discover the value of the Bendix On-Line Brake School. We hear from these professionals regularly, offering positive feedback and asking that we keep our content pipeline growing, which reinforces the importance of providing current, in-depth technical training,” said Barbara Gould, Bendix director of corporate communications. “Meeting the industry’s training and information needs is important to all of us at Bendix. Ongoing technical education is more critical than ever today, as commercial vehicle technology is advancing so quickly. That’s why we designed the site to be as inviting and easy to use as possible, and [a resource] people can access for free and on their own terms.”

Bendix opened access to its knowledge database and technical resource in March 2013. Since then, the company says users have accessed brake-school.com more than 2 million times. The company updates content regularly, with nearly 20 new courses developed and added to the curriculum in the past 10 months.

Through brake-school.com, students can access Bendix’s comprehensive and interactive air brake training course, along with a curriculum covering the full spectrum of braking and active vehicle safety system product topics. Topics range from overall education on product features and operation to troubleshooting, diagnostics and maintenance best practices. The portal includes courses on wheel-end maintenance, air dryers, tire pressure monitoring systems, radar alignment for active safety systems, air compressors and lane departure warning systems. Other content includes segments addressing CSA (compliance, safety, accountability), highway safety and emissions regulations.

Bendix also develops customized training through its online brake school, offering specialized programs for organizations spanning all segments of the commercial vehicle industry, including fleets such as Averitt Express and U.S. Xpress Inc.

The online school is open to registrations from companies and individuals. Students logging into the password-protected site can choose from a broad range of training tools, including a dynamic menu of five- to seven-minute video segments. Among the other tools are interactive presentation modules, allowing students to review the information at their own pace and on their own schedule. Students measure what they’ve learned by completing knowledge checks at the end of each course. Brake-school.com offers a variety of access levels, most of which enable companies to track their registered technicians’ and employees’ participation and progress.

More than 70 courses are offered through the Bendix On-Line Brake School. A full menu of new courses is scheduled for development and release throughout the upcoming months. A key benefit of brake-school.com is that the tool can be readily integrated into customer training systems, enabling Bendix to present complex systems and components in an understandable, complete way.
