AutoZone Brake Pads: Duralast

Duralast GT Brake Pads Now at AutoZone

To support the new brakes and highlight their stopping power, Team Penske driver Joey Logano ran the Duralast GT brakes on the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion that won the "Clash" at Daytona on Feb. 19.

AutoZone Inc. has announced the launch of Duralast GT brake pads, its new top-of-the-line brake offering. Duralast GT is the latest innovation in Duralast brakes, part of AutoZone’s private label family of products, which is comprised of products manufactured to meet or exceed OE quality, durability and performance.

To support the new brakes and highlight their stopping power, Team Penske driver Joey Logano ran the Duralast GT brakes on the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion that won the “Clash” at Daytona on Feb. 19.

“Until now, there hasn’t been a brake pad on the market that delivers the extraordinary stopping power you witness in stock car racing redesigned for the streets,” said Troy Hitchcock, vice president, merchandising, AutoZone. “Duralast GT is geared toward drivers in search of high-performance stopping power at all temperatures, and it is a great option for street and track racing, heavy-duty truck hauling and towing, and fleet and pursuit use.”

The technology used in Duralast GT brakes is comprised of a series of performance-enhancing features, including a V-Slot design, which helps reduce wear and increases stopping power, and Quiet Shield Shims, exclusive to Duralast GT featuring a nitrile-weave construction designed to create vibration diffraction. The high-temperature carbon formulation is ideal for high-performance street and track use. AutoZone’s Duralast brake line is comprised of Duralast, Duralast Gold Semi-Metallic, Duralast Gold Ceramic, Duralast Max and now Duralast GT.

AutoZone will officially launch its Duralast GT partnership with Team Penske and Logano during the STP 500 weekend at Martinsville Speedway March 31-April 2. Logano will drive a specially-designed Duralast GT Ford Fusion during the STP 500 race weekend. AutoZone continues its multi-year agreement with Team Penske, which includes marketing rights to Logano and his No. 22 Team Penske Ford Fusion. Under the agreement, in addition to using Duralast GT brake pads in racing, Logano and Team Penske will utilize the Duralast GT brake pads during specific tests over the course of the 2017 season in hopes of providing feedback to further enhance the product.

“I was blown away by Duralast GT’s high performance and stopping power; they stood up to every test,” said Logano. “AutoZone asked me to take part in their national advertising campaign, and it was a lot of fun using a Ford Performance Mustang GT to push the limits of the brakes. It’s exciting to have Duralast GT on the No. 22 Ford Fusion, and I look forward to continuing the partnership with AutoZone.”

Duralast GT brakes are now available exclusively at AutoZone and AutoZone.com.
