FRANKFURT, Germany Day three of Automechanika was filled with more opportunities to network and learn about cutting-edge technologies, as well as view the latest parts for distribution in the U.S. and elsewhere.
Prof. Peter Gutzmer, director of research and development, Schaeffler AG, made a presentation on the topic of reducing CO2 emissions during a talk and panel discussion. On Friday, a discussion of e-mobility is scheduled, focusing on energy-storage technology and using hybrid drives in commercial vehicles. A series of lectures are taking place on vehicle cleaning and an outdoor car wash demonstration and exhibiting, highlighting new technologies and environmental practices.
A booth called "USA Select: Automotive USA Investment Center" highlighted the benefits of doing business in the United States for light-vehicle companies. Next week at IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hamburg, Germany, the U.S. will have a commercial vehicle-oriented booth. A number of people based in Europe represent various U.S. states to European business leaders. For example, Indiana’s office is based in Berlin; Kentucky’s is based in Hamburg; South Carolina’s is based in Munich. The U.S. offers an "International Buyer Program" where European businesses are taken to major U.S. trade shows to meet with pre-screen U.S. suppliers. Other featured states at the show include Illinois and New Jersey.
DENSO made a number of announcements at the show, including the release into the European market of spark plugs, engine management systems, lamba sensors and diesel components.
Continental released its new VDO EFB and AGM starter batteries to industry professionals for the first time. The company announced that the popular VDO REDI-Sensor, already available in North America, is now available in Europe. As of Nov. 1, every new car in the European union must have TPMS sensors. VDO REDI-Sensor uses just a few part numbers to cover a wide number of vehicle models. Continental also announced the release of its new VDO TPMS PRO service device, which can be used to read and pre-program multi-application and OE TPMS sensors.
At Automechanika, there are seven halls and areas for exhibition:
* IT and Management Hall focuses on software, car dealership planning and marketing, dealer management systems and workshop management;
* Tomorrow’s Mobility storage technology, charging options and infrastructure, electronics, ideas about mobility.
* Parts and Components vehicle parts and accessories comprising one of the largest sections of Automechanika. Exhibitors show powertrain, chassis and body, and any other hard parts.
* Electronics and Systems products and services for driver assurance, engine management and electronics, safety.
* Repair and Maintenance paint and body, accident repair, claims management can all be found here.
* Accessories and Tuning tuning and performance systems, accessories and special equipment.
* Service Station and Car Wash vehicle cleaning and technologies on display at an outdoor venue.
At a press conference Tuesday, four Taiwanese companies made presentations at the Taiwan Excellence Products Launch. Transcend, Advantech, RoyalTek and Kenda Tires showcased their latest award-winning innovations and new products. Patty Lin, project manager for the Taiwan External Trade Commission (TAITRA) introduced the Taiwan AMPA/AutoTronics shows, held each year in Taipei, Taiwan, to the press.
