AAIA Participates In International Congress And ExpoINA In Mexico City

Executives representing automotive trade associations in Japan, India, Mexico, Brazil and OESA from the U.S. also were key presenters.

BETHESDA, Md. – Executives from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) made presentations at the International Automotive Industry Congress (Congreso Internacional de la Industria Automotriz en México, or “CIIAM”) and ExpoINA 2014, sponsored by Mexico’s National Auto Parts Industry Association (Industria Nacional de Autopartes, or “INA”) in Mexico City the last week in March.

INA is a Mexican association representing Mexican manufacturers of automotive parts and related products. INA’s mission is to support the growth and sustainable development of its members through global market development and the promotion of manufacturing opportunities in the Mexican automotive industry.

ExpoINA is INA’s annual trade show in Mexico for automotive parts suppliers interested in exporting to Mexico, or who manufacture parts in Mexico to supply its robust automobile manufacturing sector.

CIIAM is a symposium organized by INA for high-level executives and government officials to discuss issues, trends and challenges impacting the Mexican and global automotive markets.

Scott Luckett, AAIA CIO, was invited to make a presentation during the CIIAM on the growth of digital content in the North American aftermarket with specific information on AAIA-developed technology standards, ACES and PIES.

Rich White, AAIA senior vice president and executive director of the Car Care Council, spoke about the Be Car Care Aware consumer education campaign to nearly 400 suppliers and buyers at a special breakfast to open ExpoINA. The council is now working with INA to help create a similar consumer education program in Mexico to help grow the market.

Arlene Davis, AAIA senior director of events, lead the AAIA delegation in meetings with officials at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. Discussions included ongoing AAIA collaboration with the U.S. Commercial Service to promote U.S. auto parts exports to Mexico and the entire Latin American marketplace.

In addition to a number of Mexican government officials and financial analysts making presentations at CIIAM, attendees heard from executives from several vehicle and parts manufacturers, including General Motors, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Navistar, Volvo, BMW, BASF, Mazda, Bosch and TRW.

Executives representing automotive trade associations in Japan, India, Mexico, Brazil and OESA from the U.S. also were key presenters.
