LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. Standard Motor Products (SMP) was profiled in the January/February 2012 issue of
The Atlantic magazine.
The feature article, titled
“Making It in America,” was written by Adam Davidson and is the “story of Standard Motor Products, a 92-year-old, family run manufacturer based in Queens…It’s the story of hustle, ingenuity, competitive success, and promise for America’s economy.”
Covering such topics as the modern day manufacturing process, how SMP is competing in today’s global marketplace and what the future holds for manufacturing companies like SMP, the article follows several SMP employees from the company’s Greenville, S.C., plant and includes an interview with the company’s CEO Lawrence Sills.
