TROY, Mich. — Delphi Automotive has announced the expansion of its air conditioning (AC) compressor coverage by adding 70 new SKUs to its heating and cooling product portfolio. Delphi will display the compressors this week at the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) 2012 Convention and Tradeshow in Booth No. 505. Delphi’s technical trainer and field engineer, Dave Hobbs, will serve as a featured program presenter during the show, discussing variable displacement compressors, specifically highlighting design, operation and diagnosis.
 
The new compressors cover more than 26 million U.S. vehicles and nearly 2 million Canadian vehicles for BMW, Chrysler, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen and Ford applications.

Delphi compressors are leak tested to one pound of refrigerant in 40 years using sophisticated mass spectrometer leak test equipment offering superior, reliable performance.”
 
The high pumping capacity cools the passenger compartment quickly and low torque demand maximizes fuel economy through less horsepower, Delphi says. Its proven clutch design means longer compressor clutch life and reduced potential for belt slippage or squeak. Plus, Delphi says, the compressors are easy to install because Delphi A/C compressors contain a full-system charge of oil and include sealing washer kits where applicable.
 
Also during the MACS Convention, Hobbs will discuss hybrid A/C service and repair, as well as the latest HVAC information in his program "Secrets to Conquering Compressor Comebacks."
 
“In addition to simplifying the complexities of compressor technology, Dave will provide critical information technicians can easily incorporate into their day-to-day responsibilities for effective service and repair,” said Ganasevici.
 
The variable displacement compressor program is part of Delphi’s comprehensive training curriculum. The four-hour course for beginners and intermediates covers the latest diagnostic and service procedures to help address various system performance problems. New refrigerants and the J2788 standards are reviewed, and potential customer benefits are identified. Technicians can learn procedures to help safeguard against compressor failures and avoiding comebacks, as well as provided current service information and tech bulletins.
