WEINHEIM, Germany -- Dieter Schafer, 55, has joined the management board of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) as chief operations officer. In his new post, he will assume responsibility for operations, lean, SCM and procurement.
 
Schafer studied business administration at the University of Munster, Germany. After graduation, he worked both in Germany and abroad for the companies Hoesch, Kabelmetall, and Jungheinrich. In 2001, he assumed a managerial position at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies.

From 2005 on, he was head of the Special Sealing Products business area. In 2006, he became head of the largest division at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies: the Oil Seals Division. The Simmerring radial shaft seal is the key product manufactured by this division, which generates global revenues of approximately €600 million.
