KPIT Cummins Honored with Wall Street Journal Innovation Award

PUNE, India and Iselin, N.J. – KPIT Cummins, a product engineering and IT consulting partner to global manufacturing corporations, has been named a winner of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) 2011 Technology Innovation Award.
 
The WSJ technology innovation award, presented every year to companies making technological breakthroughs, has honored KPIT Cummins as the winner in the "transport" category for its plug-in parallel hybrid solution REVOLO.
 
REVOLO is a plug-in parallel hybrid solution that converts gasoline-powered vehicles into a hybrid within four-to-six hours, thereby enhancing fuel efficiency by 35 percent and reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions by more than 30 percent. The solution comprises an electric motor, electronic motor controller, a battery pack, software for controlling the motor and batteries, and a battery management system.

Wall Street Journal received 605 entries from companies, individuals and organizations across 31 countries, of which 6 percent were chosen as winners across 16 categories. In addition to the WSJ Technology Innovation Award, REVOLO also received the Knowledge@Wharton innovation award 2011, the Indian Semiconductor Association’s Technovation Award for 2011 and the 2011 NASSCOM Innovation Award for Promising Innovation of the year.
