CLERMONT-FERRANT, France –
Cecile Michelin, widow of 43-year-old Groupe Michelin chief executive Edouard Michelin, who died in a boating accident five years ago, died of cancer on Sunday.

She was just 44 years old and leaves behind six children, ranging in age from 9 to 18 years old.

Following the tragic accident in May 2006, the already reclusive widow moved to the U.S. as she believed it would be a calmer and more protective environment for her children than the company’s hometown where she previously lived. However, she returned to Clermont-Ferrant some time ago. Cécile Michelin died only a relatively short time after her malignant illness was diagnosed.
