GRANDVIEW, Mo. – Peterson Manufacturing Co. has earned 2010 Supplier Quality Excellence Process Award from Caterpillar. Peterson says it was recognized with the honor after meeting and exceeding eight stringent business performance metrics established by Caterpillar.
 
Certification for this award was completed in November, with Caterpillar officials personally delivering the honor to the company's Missouri headquarters. Peterson Manufacturing Co. is the first and only lighting supplier to earn this recognition, according to Steve Meagher, vice president of sales.
 
"It's great that our dedicated team has been recognized," Meagher said. "We value our 25-year relationship with Caterpillar."
 
Specifically, Caterpillar's Supplier Quality Excellence Process Award recognizes accomplishment in what Caterpillar calls MQ-11005 certification. This certification closely analyzes and evaluates internal quality controls, processes, shipping performance, capacity planning and more.
 
Peterson says it recognizes that this is a "cross-functional" team accomplishment.

This award is confirmation from a global giant in manufacturing that we're meeting that daily challenge."
 
Peterson Manufacturing supplies Caterpillar Inc. with a variety of industrial lighting needs, according to company officials. Peterson lights can be found around the world on Cat vehicles, mining equipment, grading equipment and more.

Meagher added, "We fully intend to be at the front of the line when the 2011 suppliers are recognized. We're more committed now than ever to be No. 1 in the industry."
