LAS VEGAS – This week at AAPEX, Remy International announced a company-wide reorganization that consolidates its aftermarket operations into a single-source, customer-driven supply channel for light-, medium- and heavy-duty rotating electrics.

"The Power of One" initiative was announced at AAPEX by John Weber, president and CEO of Remy International.

"We are one of the few global suppliers of aftermarket rotating electrics with an OE expertise," Weber said. "We are uniquely positioned to deliver a best-in-class aftermarket portfolio of products featuring the latest technology. Our goal is to create one seamless customer-facing entity. That's what 'The Power of One' is all about — harnessing that strength to bring our customers one point of sale, one website, one catalog, with number-one range in the business. Remy has one focus, and that is rotating electrics and delighting customers."

Eric Bippus, senior vice president, Aftermarket Sales and Marketing, will be leading this initiative. He will report to Jay Sanchez, president of Remy Power Products.

Remy has intensified its emphasis on unparalleled customer support and, according to Weber, has "rethought everything about how it conceives, designs, builds, sources, supports and markets rotating electrical components." He described this process has been described as "evolutionary," with many customer-driven changes expected to occur during 2012.

Also during the company's press conference at AAPEX, Remy announced it has entered into a business co-operation agreement with Lucas-TVS, Ltd., the market leader in India for automotive, commercial vehicle and two wheeler starter motors, alternators and other small motors.

The agreement will allow Remy to license certain products from Lucas-TVS for Remy to manufacture and sell around the world. Lucas-TVS will license certain Remy products to make and sell in India. In addition, both parties may buy and resell each other’s products.

Weber said this agreement will benefit both firms. Lucas-TVS will be able to leverage Remy product lineup and global customer relationships to reach more foreign customers who are investing in India, while Remy will take advantage of Lucas-TVS product lineup and engineering capabilities to add new products. He said the companies also will work to support each other’s product sourcing efforts to optimize supplier relationships globally and reduce costs.

“Remy’s recognized technical and operational excellence provides the foundation to pursue opportunities for geographic expansion, product extensions and new business alliances,” Weber said. “This agreement with Lucas-TVS allows us to participate in India, the fastest growing automotive market in the world. It creates an opportunity for Remy to work with Lucas-TVS to develop new products and allows both companies to extend their traditional markets.”
