The Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) introduced the group’s newest officers and Board members during its 2011 Annual Business and Education Conference in Las Vegas.
Taking office immediately following the close of AAPEX on Nov. 3, will be AWDA’s new chairman, Bill Maggs, president of the National Pronto Association, Grapevine, TX. Maggs succeeds David Segal, Automotive Supply Associates, Concord, NH, who successfully led the association through the previous 12 months and remains on the board as immediate past chairman.
Joining Maggs as AWDA’s new 2011-’12 officers will be Vice Chairman Tim Trudnowski, Automotive Jobbers Supply, Spokane, WA, and entering as secretary will be Dick Fairbanks, Orleans Auto Parts, Hyannis, MA. Richard Beirne, United Auto Supply, LaCross, WI, retains his position as AWDA treasurer.
Larry Northup, AWDA’s executive director noted that, “These new officers join a long and distinguished line of great leaders that have come through the AWDA chairs. Their commitment to the industry is inspiring and it’s truly an honor to work with them.”
Also joining the AWDA Board of Governors during AAPEX are:
Sid Dooley, Associate Jobbers Warehouse in Boaz, AL;
Eli Futerman, Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Rochester, NY;
Tim Gerrity, General Auto Parts, Oakland, CA;
Larry Pacey, National Auto Parts Warehouse, Miami, FL (photo not available at press time);
Larry Pavey, Federated Auto Parts Warehouse, Staunton, VA;
Scott Peterson, ASAP Automotive Warehouse, Midvale, UT (photo not available at press time); and
Tim Renehan, Stone Wheel Inc., Willowbrook, IL.
According to Northup, “AWDA’s nominating committee insists that any incoming governor be qualified to serve as chairman, if asked. The result of this long-standing policy is a consistent supply of high-quality board members who are interested, engaged and committed to the industry and association.”
In the coming year, AWDA will support multiple projects designed to enhance the position of traditional distribution in the aftermarket. These will include: promotion of Best Practices for Processing Labor Claims and the development of hard data to support the association’s contention that the aftermarket distribution sector is a great place to work and build a career.
